This year's State Open Championships attracted the largest entry for at least ten years for this most important event on the Badminton WA Calendar, with 308 players participating including those from the metro area, Bunbury, Albany, Queensland, and Malaysia.
A total of 460 matches were scheduled for the weekend, with umpires (both qualified and in training) umpiring 42% of them. A total of 108 trophies were awarded, with $10,000 in Prize Money distributed to Open Winners, Runners-up and Semi-finalists. Winners of the WheelChair, Masters and Graded Events shared $2,520 in Prize Money.
