An open letter from out-going Executive Officer - Rob Kennedy
As this week marks my final week in the role of Executive Officer at Badminton WA, I wanted to take a moment to share a few reflections and to thank the badminton community.
I have sincerely enjoyed the past 12 months in this role. Badminton WA is a community filled with passionate, generous, and dedicated people, and it has been a privilege to work alongside so many of you. While my time here has been relatively short, I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved together in that period.
There have been far too many great moments to mention, so I’ll keep it brief. One highlight that stands out was hosting a National Event here in Perth. Meeting parents and players from across the country was special, but what stayed with me most was seeing the excitement and pride of our Under 13s team each day as they arrived, proudly representing Western Australia in the Black and Gold. Moments like that are a powerful reminder of what sport is truly about - creating experiences and memories that people carry with them forever.
Another highlight was the Regional Roadshow down south, where I had the opportunity to meet volunteers who work tirelessly and passionately to keep badminton alive and thriving across all corners of WA. Their commitment is the backbone of our sport.
To our major funding partners at the Western Australian State Government (DCITS) and Healthway (Fuel to Go & Play), thank you for your continued support of our sport and community. Your investment enables us to deliver meaningful programs, events, and services across Western Australia, and without this support, the reach and impact of badminton in our state would simply not be possible.
Finally the BAWA office staff, the Board, and everyone who was open to innovation and thinking a little differently to help badminton grow and thrive into the future, thank you. I will carry many wonderful memories with me as I take the next step in my professional journey.
I wish Badminton WA and its community every success moving forward.
Sincerely,

Rob Kennedy
