Badminton
is an immensely popular sport, played by people of all ages in every
part of the world. It is by far the most accessible of all the racquet
sports - anyone can pick it up in a matter of minutes, and after that,
they can play the game at whatever pace they like. You can have fun
playing badminton almost anywhere - leisurely in backyards or at picnics
with friends and family. But what many people don't know is that badminton
can also be one of the most explosive and competitive sports.
Badminton is the world's fastest racquet sport: a shuttlecock can leave the racquet at a speed of over 300 km/h. Today's top players compete in a lightning-fast sport which demands constant, highly concentrated actions: running, jumping, twisting, stretching, running backwards and striking. Besides explosiveness, quick reflexes and rapid hand-eye coordination, competitive badminton players must also possess superb aerobic endurance .(from Badminton USA). |
