Kingsway Indoor Stadium hosted the 'Be Active' Autumn Tournament over the weekend of 24th & 25th April. There were over 140 players taking part, with many of those players playing in more than one event across more than one division to test out their skills. There were also a group of ladies who came over from Malaysia.

Each of the divisions were split into round robin groups, with the winners of the groups progressing through a best of 3 games knockout stage through to the finals.

There was also a Juniors Division as well and it was great to see the young kids in action and having fun on the court. Yin Xiang Lin was the pick of the juniors winning 2 titles - the Boys Singles and Boys Doubles with partner Edward Fan. Young Titus Tan wasn't far behind coming Runner-up in the Boys Singles and Boys Doubles with partner Matthew Teo but won the Mixed with partner Silvi Botha. In the Girl's Singles Olivia Fianita took the title, with Silvi Botha coming 2nd.

There were also 4 grades over which the various titles were keenly contested.

Joshua Dannise did very well winning B Grade Men's Doubles with Ronald Pang and Mixed Doubles with partner Amanda Mayasari. Unfortunately, he couldn't complete the hat-trick losing out in a tight 3 set final in C Grade Men's Singles against Jun Hua Guo. The B Grade Men's Singles champion was Martin Wong.

In Ares Grade Alphonsus Ng took the Men's Singles title after beating Donald Chai in the final. Donald teamed up with Gerard Wyeth in the Men's Doubles final but lost out to Daniel Fan & Bryan Tang. In the Women's Doubles the consistency of the Malaysian duo Lee Fong Lim & Mary Lim was the key factor in their finals win over Jillian Chai & Tania Phillips.

In the Open Grade there were some cracking matches. Jessica Lim & Elaine Wong came out on top to take the title against Huifen Jacqueline Goh & Fei Fei He in the Women's Doubles. Huifen was runner-up again in the Mixed Doubles with partner Benjamin Yan, with Nick Kidd & Elaine Wong taking the title. Huifen did come away with a trophy though by taking out the Women's Singles title with Jessica Lim coming 2nd. In the Men's Singles Nick Kidd won the title after beating Michael Chan in the final.

The event finished on the Sunday afternoon with the Open Grade Mens Doubles finals which was possibly the best and closest match of the tournament where Hua Jin Ong & Hii Wee Ung took on Nick Kidd & Jason Nowland in a titanic battle. There were some amazingly fast rallies with strong attacks being mixed with precise net shots. There was full commitment by all the players and one of the players even snapped his strings on 4 different rackets during that one match! The spectators were definitely entertained as Nick Kidd & Jason Nowland eventually came out on top 21-19, 19-21, 23-21 in a very even match that lasted 45 minutes!
