| 2010 JUNIOR PENNANTS SEMESTER 2 WEEK 3 - AUGUST 22nd | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
2010 Junior Pennants - Spring Series - Week 4 of 5 The fourth week of the competition saw the semi's get underway to see who would play-off in the finals next week for this semesters title. In a repeat of the first round matches. The top of the table Racoons took on the Beavers, while the Meerkats took on the Hamsters.
In the first semi-final, the Racoons showed their consistency and improvement by putting up a great team effort against the Beavers. Even though only 16 games were played between the 2 teams, as many of the players from both teams were unable to make it this week, the Beavers tried to battle as much as they could with Scott Delamotte trying to lift his side by winning his singles and then teaming up with team mate Brendan Burns to earn another win in their doubles match. Unfortunately, there were too many all round strong performances from the Racoons and they charged to an emphatic 14-2 win to take them through to the finals to see if they could stop the undefeated run of the Racoons.
The other semi-final tie saw the Meerkats take on the Hamsters. There were strong performances from Herman Chan, Alvin Khuu, Christy Novakovic, Ryan Black and Oliver Hayes to give Hamsters a fighting chance but the Meerkats performed strongly as a team to eventually take a convincing 15-4 win. While the Racoons & the Meerkats will fight it out next week to see who will be crowned champions of semester 2, the Beavers will try to get their first win on the board against the plucky Hamsters. All the players, especially those from the Beavers & Hamsters, need to be congratulated for their sporting spirit and determination as they took on the stronger teams. It is also encouraging to see some of the new players developing over last four weekends, as they try to rise to the challenge. Team Standings after Week 4 - Semi-Finals Results: Racoons beat Beavers: match score 14 to 2 Meerkats beat Hamsters : match score 15 to 4 Team Standings After Week 3 (final standings after the round robin stage):
In the final week - Week 5, the final play-offs will take place to determine the final placings of the team. The Racoons will play the Meerkats for top spot, while the Beavers will play the Hamsters for 3rd spot. Trophies will be awarded to the winning and runner up teams, while prizes / trophies will also be awarded to players who played exceptionally over the five weeks. So, good luck to all teams for next week. We look forward to another week of strong competition from all players / teams. 2010 Junior Pennants Semester 2 Teams: MEERKATS - Heer Gudka, Matthew Teo, Beh Ee Keat, Brendon Murray, Daniel Tie, Joel Raja, Lynette Loo and Nicole Yau.
