Badminton WA is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr NICK KIDD as our Executive Officer.

Nick is one of the success stories of our sport. Originally identified as a talented junior player in the mining town of Newman Nick represented WA at Junior level with distinction. He then moved to Melbourne to join the National Squad representing Australia for two years before deciding to 'try his luck' on the European badminton circuit.

On becoming a professional athlete Nick had considerable success, winning the England Men's Singles titles in 2006 and 2007 as well as being a member of the English Thomas Cup Bronze Medal teams in 2004 and 2006. Playing the final match in the 2006 event Nick won the game which gave England entry to the Thomas Cup Finals in Indonesia. He also helped the England Team win a Bronze medal in the 2006 European Championships.

Now back in Perth Nick is still an exciting player to watch on court and is a draw card in any event in which he competes.

On the administration side, Nick gained a Sports Administrator Trainee position in 1999 and was immediately appointed to a full time job with Badminton Australia. Here he was assistant to the Executive Officer for two years and received a sound grounding in all aspects of badminton administration. Following this he worked for the Victorian Olympic Council in Melbourne as an administration assistant reporting to the Executive Director before heading to Europe. Before starting his professional playing career Nick worked for the Bath and North Somerset City Council as a Sport and Recreation Personal Assistant undertaking a wide range of administrative tasks.

The Badminton WA Board of Management is delighted to welcome Nick onto the team and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship where together we develop the sport both on and off the court.
